Good stuff, appreciate this topic. I have looked for strategic positioning at all the entrances to the church as it applies to my church security role. Giving up some ground at several doors provides cover for me while putting intruders in the funnel.
In the event of an actual attack it may come down to stronger, faster, but knowing the terrain is the edge I’ll need.
We also have been considering this topic as it applies to church security. Bolstering our cover and concealment as well as using fatal funnels to our advantage.
I am always running scenarios in my head, but love how you give practical examples to think about and ways to consider terrain that I hadn’t thought of.
Hey Doug! Thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m glad you found it valuable. It’s always exciting for me to hear back from people who are listening and using this stuff on the daily.
In urban terrain “up”, particularly in a free standing building, may mean trapped. If the opposition can surround the structure and control the exits, even by fire, you are caught. They can wait you out, clear the building, or even burn it down.

Bingo. Having an eye for the terrain - indoors or outdoors - is key.

Agreed. Solid point in a SHTF scenario.
